PinMapper Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Kirway LLC ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the PinMapper mobile application (the "App").

In short: PinMapper is a private travel journal. Your pins, notes, and categories are stored on your iPhone. Your photos stay in your Photo Library. We do not create a PinMapper account for you, we do not sell your data, and we cannot see your map. If iCloud sync is on, Apple stores that data in your iCloud account (a private CloudKit database). Purchases are handled by Apple.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Photos and Location Data

• PinMapper accesses your photo library only with your explicit permission
• We extract GPS coordinates embedded in your photos' metadata
• All photo processing occurs locally on your device
• We do not store, transmit, or access the actual photo content

1.2 Location Information

• GPS coordinates from photo metadata
• Location names derived from reverse geocoding
• Custom location names you create
• Categories and notes you add to locations

1.3 Usage Data

• PinMapper does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs
• Apple may send us anonymized crash reports if you have "Share with App Developers" enabled on your device
• Subscription and purchase information is processed by Apple, not by a PinMapper server

1.4 Device Information

• App version and settings stay on your device
• In-app purchases are handled by Apple’s StoreKit using your Apple ID

2. How We Use Your Information

2.1 Core Functionality

• Create location pins from your photo metadata
• Display your locations on interactive maps
• Organize locations with custom categories
• Export your data in various formats (Premium feature)

2.2 App Improvement

• We may use Apple crash reports (if you share them) to fix bugs
• We do not track feature usage inside the app with third-party analytics

2.3 Subscription Management

• Process premium subscription purchases
• Manage free trial periods
• Restore purchases across devices

3. Data Storage and Processing

3.1 Local Storage

• Pins, categories, notes, and photo thumbnails are stored locally on your device using SwiftData
• Original photos remain in your device's photo library; PinMapper reads location metadata from photos you choose to import
• Kirway LLC does not operate a PinMapper server that stores your map

3.2 iCloud Sync

• If you are signed in to iCloud, PinMapper can sync pins to your personal iCloud account using Apple's private CloudKit database
• That data is associated with your Apple ID. We do not have access to it
• You can turn iCloud off for this app in iOS Settings, or delete the app to remove local data

3.3 Data Retention

• Data remains on your device until you delete the app
• iCloud data follows Apple's iCloud retention policies
• You can export or delete your data at any time

4. Information Sharing

4.1 We Do Not Sell Your Data

• We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information
• Your location data is never shared with third parties
• Photo content never leaves your device

4.2 Service Providers

• Apple App Store for payment processing
• Apple iCloud for premium sync features (if enabled)
• No other third-party services have access to your data

4.3 Legal Requirements

• We may disclose information if required by law
• We will notify you of such requests unless prohibited
• We will challenge overly broad requests

5. Your Privacy Rights

5.1 Data Access

• View all your stored location data within the app
• Export your data in CSV, JSON, or GPX formats (Premium)
• Access your data through iOS Settings > Privacy

5.2 Data Control

• Delete individual locations or categories
• Clear all app data through iOS Settings
• Disable photo access permissions at any time

5.3 Subscription Control

• Cancel subscriptions through Apple's App Store
• Request refunds according to Apple's policies
• Manage subscription settings in your Apple ID account

6. Children's Privacy

PinMapper is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

7. Security

7.1 Data Protection

• All data processing occurs locally on your device
• iCloud data is encrypted using Apple's security standards
• We implement industry-standard security practices

7.2 No Account Required

• PinMapper does not require user accounts
• No passwords or personal identifiers are collected
• Your privacy is protected by design

8. International Users

PinMapper is designed for global use. Location data processing occurs locally regardless of your location. If you use iCloud sync, data storage follows Apple's international data policies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy in the app
• Updating the "Last Updated" date
• Providing in-app notifications for significant changes
